Dublin College Dundrum — 2023–24

Four courses during the 2023–24 academic year, all QQI Level 5. This was the first year at DCFE and involved building several of these courses largely from scratch while teaching them simultaneously.

Courses

  • Foundations of AI for Business — A non-technical course on AI/ML tools for business students. Covered tool literacy, critical evaluation, prompt design, and the distinction between genuine AI capabilities and hype. Used LinkedIn Learning as a supplementary resource.

  • Maths for IT — QQI Level 5 Mathematics for IT (5N18396). Taught September through March, covering algebra, functions, calculus, trigonometry, probability and statistics, and algorithms. Python used throughout for visualisation and applied problems.

  • Web Authoring — Fundamentals of HTML/CSS and web publishing for computer science students.

  • Programming Design Principles — Python programming focused on structured thinking, modular design, and collaborative problem-solving. Included the Game Map project as an informal introduction to applying programming to real-world spatial problems.

The 2024–25 year moved to Blackrock Further Education Institute — see BFEI for materials from that year, including the cross-module integration work.
